EVENT: Edible Book Event sponsored by San Diego Book Arts and the
Mandeville Special Collections Library at the University of California’s Geisel Library.

More than 30 artist created, book themed edible works will be on
display—and then consumed by the audience—during this local participation in the International Edible Book Festival, an annual event held during the first week of April.

Entries in the past have included (Lone) star cookies decorated with phrases from speeches by President Bush, or a depiction of “War and Peace” with cake “weapons” surrounded by peas.

Brief narratives accompany the “books.”

Note: The program begins at 2 p.m., but for visuals the best time would be 1 to 2:30 p.m.

BACKGROUND: This is the fifth annual Edible Books Tea to be sponsored by
members of San Diego Book Arts and UCSD’s Mandeville Special Collections Library. Past festivals have included events throughout the U.S., Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Italy and Spain.
