![]() Visitors & Friends > News > Releases > General > Article News Releases April 30, 2002 Media Contact: Pat JaCoby (858) 534-7404 EDITOR’S: Please note revised undergraduate commencement dates COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES AT UCSD PLANNED JUNE 9, 15, 16 Commencement ceremonies for the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego will be held June 9. UCSD’s five undergraduate colleges and the Graduate School of International Relations/Pacific Studies (IR/PS) will confer degrees in separate ceremonies June 15 and 16. Nearly 4,000 are expected to receive degrees. Dr. Floyd E. Bloom, chairman of the Department of Neuropharmacology at Scripps Research Institute, will speak at the School of Medicine commencement ceremonies. Bloom also is editor-in-chief of Science Magazine and adjunct professor in neurosciences at UCSD. The School of Medicine ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. June 9 on the lawn between the Medical Teaching Facility and the Stein Clinical Research Building. A reception will follow on the Medical Teaching Facility lawn. Nearly 100 medical students will receive degrees. More than 2,000 guests are expected to attend. Speakers for the IR/PS graduation and the five undergraduate college ceremonies are yet to be announced. The IR/PS graduation ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. June 15 at the Robinson Building Complex plaza on the UCSD campus. A reception will follow in the plaza. Degrees will be conferred upon 120 graduates.
