Preuss School Principal Selected
To Join National Education Jury


Doris Alvarez, principal of the Preuss School at the University of California, San Diego, has been named to a nine member panel of national jurors to select the winner of the 2002 Brock International Prize in Education.

This years' jury will convene July 9-12 in Norman, Oklahoma to select the distinguished laureate. The Brock Prize in Education is the largest award in the world given annually to recognize an individual for innovative and effective ideas in education.

The nine jurors, selected from across the U.S., represent several levels and areas of education. In addition to Alvarez they also included the professor of education emeritus at Harvard University, the provost and vice president of the University of New Mexico, the education advisor to the administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and the director of the North Carolina Education Research Council.
