UCSD'S GROVE GALLERY
PRESENTS EXHIBITION EXPLORING
CARDBOARD AS AN ARTISTIC MEDIUM
Cardboard: A Group Exhibition
is being presented through Oct. 31 in Grove Gallery of the Crafts
Center Complex at the University of California, San Diego. A reception
for the artists will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on closing day, Oct. 31.
The reception is free and open to the public.
Erin Coleman, a UCSD graduate
student in the Department of Visual Arts, curated the exhibition which
is designed to demonstrate the use of cardboard as an artistic
material/medium.
"Our idea is to utilize
the inherent simplicity and beauty we find in everyday objects, such
as cardboard, and create from that," Coleman said. "We deal
with form, function and texture. It's art for the masses, very
down-to-earth."
Among artists/crafts persons
exhibiting works, in addition to Coleman, are Grove Gallery director
Ron Carlson, Clay Logan, Joel Murphy, Matt Hincman, Amy Jorgensen,
Maryanne Boreen, Jim Christensen, Jim Reed and Pinky Clinton.
The Cardboard exhibition will
be on view in UCSD's Grove Gallery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays
through Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 31.
Grove Gallery is located in the UCSD Crafts Center Complex on the
Revelle College campus off Eucalyptus Grove Lane. Gallery directions
and parking information are available at the Gilman Drive information
center at the entrance to the campus. For exhibit information call
