The new CityShuttle will connect the UCSD campus with many nearby housing and shopping areas, including La Jolla Village Square, La Jolla Del Sol, Costa Verde Center, and the UTC/Westfield Mall. According to Shuttle Operations Supervisor, Frank Buono, three CityShuttle buses will operate continually from 7:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m., Monday through Friday, during the academic year (excluding quarter breaks and university holidays). Buses will provide service to each shuttle stop location every 15 minutes. The shuttle is a free service, funded by UCSD's Transportation and Parking Services. Riders are restricted to UCSD affiliates and passengers are asked to present a UCSD photo I.D. card when they board. Shuttle stops are marked by blue and white "UCSD Shuttle" signs, most of which share poles with San Diego Transit bus route signs, thanks to the cooperation of the Metropolitan Transit Development Board (MTDB) and San Diego Transit Corporation (SDTC). Other shuttle services provided by UCSD include Campus Loop; Regents Express, North and East Parking, Medical Center Hillcrest; Campus Coaster; S.I.O./Mesa; and Torrey Pines Center. Many TPS shuttle buses are lift-equipped; however, to ensure accessibility from any UCSD shuttle stop, passengers requiring a lift are encouraged to call (858) 534-6282, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to make reservations (24 hour notice is requested).
