UCSD RANKS AMONG TOP U.S. UNIVERSITIES
IN DEGREES AWARDED TO HISPANICS

The University of California, San Diego ranked 16th among the top 100 universities in the U.S. in the number of doctoral degrees awarded to Hispanics, according to data from the National Center for Education Statistics.

The report noted that 17 of 285 receiving doctoral degrees were Hispanics.

UCSD was 41st of the nation’s top 100 colleges in bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics and, in academic programs, ranked 4th in Biological Sciences and 7th in Psychology in degrees awarded to Hispanics.

The figures were included in a “national report card” published in May, 2003 by the Hispanic Outlook for Higher Education.
