UCSD PUMPKIN DROP

- Muir quad between
Tioga Hall and Tenaya Hall at UCSD. (For directions to the

is Building 210 on the Muir College campus.)
BACKGROUND:
- The pumpkin, named
GPA (for Grade Point Average), will be dropped by members
of the Muir College Residents Executive Council from the 11th
story of Tioga Hall, the tallest building on the Muir College
campus.
- The 420-pound GPA
is the largest pumpkin in Muir pumpkin-drop history. It will
land on a plastic sheet marked off as a bingo grid. Inside
the pumpkin will be an assortment of candy and also a plastic
bat. Whoever predicts the square that the plastic bat lands
on will win a prize.
- The pumpkin’s
“splat” is measured each year. The largest splat
in the history of the pumpkin drop occurred in 1995, when
a 398-pound pumpkin spewed over 100 feet.
