26TH Annual Muir
College Pumpkin Drop & Halloween Carnival and Vendor Fair, University of
California, San Diego

drop; 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. carnival and vendor fair
LOCATION:
Muir Quad
between Tioga Hall and Tenaya Hall at UCSD (see map attached)
REMARKS:
“Chuck,” the pumpkin,
will be dropped by members of the
Muir College Residents Executive Council from the 11th story of Tioga Hall,
the tallest building on the Muir College campus.
This
155 pound pumpkin, donated by Becky Bevell of Bodacious Pumpkins of Fallbrook,
has been filled with an assortment of smaller pumpkins and candy.
The
pumpkin’s “splat” is measured each year. The largest splat in the
history of the pumpkin drop occurred in 1995, when a 398-pound pumpkin spewed
over 100 feet.
ADDITIONALLY:
The UCSD Bookstore
will sponsor a Halloween costume contest for students, faculty and staff from
11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Price Center Plaza. Prizes will be awarded for
the funniest, scariest, most creative and incredibly fantastic costumes.
