He will be introduced by William Propp, director of the Judaic Studies Program at UCSD. The program, free and open to the public, is sponsored by Price Charities and the Judaic Studies Program. Gilbert, the Herman Wouk Distinguished Visiting Professor in Judaic Studies at UCSD, became the official biographer of Winston Churchill in 1968. He has published six volumes of Churchill biography and edited 12 volumes of Church documents. His other publications include two comprehensive general histories, Second World War and First World War. Among his books on Jewish themes are a general history, The Holocaust: The Jewish Tragedy, and a History of Israel, as well as Jewish History Atlas. His television work has included the script of the Academy Award winning film Genocide. Gilbert was knighted in 1995. For information call (858) 534-4551.
