UCSD ATHLETIC CONTESTS TO AID WILDFIRE VICTIMS

Donations for victims of the San Diego fire disaster will be collected during two games scheduled Oct. 31 at the University of California, San Diego.

The UCSD women’s volleyball team, currently ranked No. 4 in the country, will take on the nation’s No. 1 team, Cal State San Bernardino, at 7 p.m. tomorrow at RIMAC Arena. The Triton women’s volleyball team is 18-4 overall, second to San Bernardino in the CCAA standings, and was ranked No. 1 earlier in the season.

Monetary contributions to be donated to the American Red Cross for fire victims will be collected before the game.

A collection also will be taken for the Red Cross when the UCSD men’s water polo team plays an exhibition game against the U.S. men’s national team at 3:30 p.m. at Canyonview Pool. UCSD is the No. 6 ranked men’s collegiate team in the nation while the U.S. team consists of players who are training to represent the United States at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.
