Women's Center to Co-Sponsor a
Panel on “Women in Politics” Nov. 3 at UCSD

Local college women majoring in government or political science are invited to attend a Nov. 3 panel on “Women in Politics” sponsored by the UCSD Women’s Center and the American Association of University Women (AAUW), San Diego Branch, in the Price Center Ballroom at the University of California, San Diego.

The 1:30 - 3:00 PM forum is free and open to the public.

Morgan McDaniel, president of the San Diego branch of AAUW and panel moderator, said the purpose of the event is to encourage women interested in pursuing a career in government and politics to continue their education toward attaining that goal.

Panel members include Pam Slater-Price, chairwoman, County Board of Supervisors; Lori Saldana, Assembly member; Lori Holt-Pfeiler, mayor of Escondido, and Maggie Houlihan, Encinitas Council member. The women will describe how they began their political careers, including paths taken to achieve their current positions, and address specific issues relating to women in politics. The talks also will address their current responsibilities and a typical day as an officeholder serving the public.

A reception will follow the discussion.
