Against a backdrop of vintage cars, students at The Preuss School UCSD will showcase the “Keys to Their Success” during the fourth annual Classic Cars for ClassicKids benefit to be held Oct. 27 at the Evans Garage, Old Pacific Highway.

The evening of dinner and dancing, set in the exclusive collection of antique and classic automobiles owned by the Evans family of San Diego, will include a presentation of Preuss student accomplishments in music, art and robotics.

Co-chairs for the event are Hank and Robin Nordhoff, Peter Farrell and Fiona Tudor. Proceeds from the evening will support the school’s four initiatives: Science and Engineering, Visual and Performing Arts, Student Transportation, and Athletics and Student Wellness.

The Preuss School is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who become the first in their families to graduate from college. With 760 students in grades 6-12, Preuss has a record high Academic Performance Index (API) score of 879.

One hundred percent of Preuss 10 th graders pass the high school exit exam, and the school administers over 730 Advanced Placement (AP) tests to 341 high school students.

To be admitted to the Preuss School students must meet three criteria: their family qualifies for the school lunch program; neither parent graduated from a four-year college or university, and they have potential and motivation to benefit from an intensive college prep program.

Ninety-one percent of the 2004, 2005 and 2006 graduating classes was offered admission to the nation’s most prestigious college and universities.
