BACKGROUND:
The pumpkin, named DropIt, Like It’s Hot, will be dropped by a member of the Muir College Residents Council from the 11 th story of Tioga Hall, the tallest building on the Muir College campus.
Drop It, Like It’s Hot weighs 325 pounds. Inside the pumpkin will be an assortment of individually wrapped candy – 50 to 75 pounds – which students will scurry to claim. The pumpkin’s “splat” is measured each year. The largest splat in the history of the pumpkin drop occurred in 1995, when a 398-pound pumpkin spewed over 100 feet. The largest pumpkin in drop history is last year’s 430-pounder.
The Halloween Carnival will include some free refreshments and the Barbecue will include items for sale.
