CALENDAR ANNOUNCEMENT

Philip Nel, author of Dr. Seuss: American Icon, will give an illustrated talk at 4:30 p.m. in the Seuss Room, Geisel Library, at the University of California, San Diego. Nel’s talk kicks off the library’s second Seussentennial exhibition, Dr. Seuss Between the Covers, which focuses on the children’s books for which Theodor Seuss Geisel is so well known. A reception and book signing will follow Nel’s talk. Nel is an associate professor at Kansas State University. The exhibition will include original sketches, finished drawings, mock-up books, and published works and will continue through Sept. 26. The exhibition and Nel’s talk are presented by the Friends of the UCSD Libraries and Mandeville Special Collections Library. Both events are free and open to the public.
