By Barry Jagoda

One of the nation’s most influential economic policymakers will address the University of California, San Diego Economics Roundtable on July 7 when Janet Yellen, President of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, speaks on the topic, “Prospects for the U.S. Economy and Monetary Policy Implications.”  The public is invited to attend.

Dr. Yellen’s remarks are closely monitored, for their implications for decision-making, throughout the Federal Reserve System. Her views are also carefully tracked by the national and international press and widely reported.

Yellen is professor emeritus at UC Berkeley where she was the Eugene E. and the Catherine M. Trefethen Professor of Business and Professor of Economics and has been a member of the faculty since 1980.  She has written on a variety of macroeconomic issues while specializing in the causes and implications of unemployment.

The Economics Roundtable will be held at the Faculty Club on the UCSD campus beginning at 7:30 am.  The fee of $50 includes the presentation, parking and a continental breakfast.  Register on line at www.econ.ucsd.edu/roundtable or for more information contact Edie Munk, emunk@ucsd.edu or (858) 822-0510.
