What’s Next for San Diego Airports?

September 12, 2007

By Barry Jagoda

University of California, San Diego economist Richard Carson, a significant voice in opposition to last year’s ballot proposal to move San Diego’s airport to Miramar Field, will discuss options for the future of the region’s air transportation when he addresses the UCSD Social Sciences Supper Club, Oct. 10

Carson, a specialist in environmental and urban economics, had maintained that the current airport, with modifications, would meet San Diego’s requirements well into the future. At the Supper Club forum Carson will present his research findings and discuss recommendations for improvements, upgrades and alternative air traffic plans and offer steps that need to be taken in the short run and for the long term.

The Social Sciences Supper Club will be held beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Faculty Club on the UCSD campus.  Reservations and additional information may be obtained by calling Chris Hillis at (858) 822-6694 or chillis@ucsd.edu
