Former Advisor On Higher Ed In Iraq To Speak At UCSD,
Oct. 25

Ambassador Joseph
Ghougassian, who, as an advisor to the Coalition Provisional
Authority, recently worked with the Iraqi Education Ministry
on efforts to restore the country's higher education system,
will speak Oct. 25 at the University of California, San Diego
International House on future challenges in Iraq's reconstruction.
The talk, beginning at 7 p.m. is free and open to the public.
Following the presentation,
sponsored by the UCSD International Affairs Group, an audience
discussion will be moderated by Eric Greitens, an expert on
humanitarian assistance.
Ambassador Ghougassian
formerly served as the U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, was director
of the Peace Corps in the Yemen Arab Republic and served on
the White House staff. A former member of the psychology and
philosophy faculties at the University of San Diego, Ghougassian
has a Ph.D from Louvain University in Belgium and both an M.A.
and J.D. from the University of San Diego.
