UCSD Immigration Expert to Testify Before House
Judiciary Committee in San Diego Hearing August 2

Wayne A. Cornelius, one of the nation’s leading authorities on immigration and border enforcement will testify before the Judiciary Committee of the United States House of Representatives in a field hearing to be conducted in San Diego, Aug. 2, 2006.

Cornelius will discuss, based on his extensive research, how increased border controls have affected decision-making by unauthorized migrants. Cornelius, a professor of political science at the University of California, San Diego is director of UCSD’s Center for Comparative Immigration Studies.

The hearing, open to the public, will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marine Corps Recruitment Depot, located at 3800 Chosen Avenue, off Washington Street, in San Diego in the vicinity of Lindbergh Field.

The hearing is scheduled to be broadcast on C-SPAN cablevision.
