VENTURE
CAPITALIST BILL STENSRUD TO SPEAK
AT UCSD ECONOMICS ROUNDTABLE JULY 18
Now that once high-flying tech stocks have plummeted
and the economy has taken on a lethargic mood, is there any adventure
left in venture capital? San Diego venture capitalist Bill Stensrud will
address this question at the July 18 breakfast meeting of the University
of California, San Diego Economics Roundtable. The event, which is $50
per person, will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
at the UCSD Faculty Club.
Stensrud, a general partner in the venture capital firm Enterprise Partners,
has a reputation as an industry leader with an impressive knack for identifying
growing markets in networking and telecommunication equipment and services.
His career in the computer, communication, software and services industries
includes the founding and/or serving as the CEO of three successful high
technology companies.
Since joining Enterprise Partners in 1997, three of Stensrud's portfolio
companies have gone public: Rhythms NetConnections, which he founded;
Packeteer; and iAsiaWorks. He also sold two Enterprise Partners companies,
IPivot and XLNT, to Intel. These investments resulted in a return of $669
million to the Enterprise Partners' limited partners.
The UCSD Economics Roundtable is sponsored by the UCSD Department of Economics
in coordination with UCSD Extended Studies and Public Programs.
