ISLAMIC ETHICS EXPERT TO DISCUSS SEPTEMBER 11
AND THE TRADITION OF JIHAD JAN. 7 AT UC SAN DIEGO

An expert on Islamic ethics and international relations will speak on September 11 and the Tradition of Jihad Jan. 7 at the University of California, San Diego.

Sohail Humayun Hashmi, chair of the International Relations Program and Alumnae Foundation associate professor at Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Mass., will lecture at 7 p.m. in Center Hall, Room 115. The event is free and open to the public.

Hashmi has written numerous articles on Islamic ethics and international relations and is currently completing a book, The Islamic Ethics of War and Peace. He also has edited or co-edited five books, the most recent, Islamic Political Ethics: Civil Society, Pluralism, and Conflict (Princeton, 2002).
