Outback Adventures Celebrates
30 Years with New Surf Shop

UC San Diego Recreation Outback Adventures has been the university’s official source for all things outdoor adventure since 1978, and the important member of the university community will celebrate its 30th anniversary with the April 24 grand opening of a new on-campus surf shop.

Soon to be filled to the brim with popular surf and retail brands

The new 1,600-square-foot Outback Adventures Surf Shop, minutes from a world renowned surf break at Black’s Beach, is the first of its kind on a university campus. The store solidifies UC San Diego’s reputation as the #1 ranked surfing university in the nation. Carrying the most popular retail brands, both experienced and recreational surfers alike will be able to find the surfboard, T-shirt, or accessory they seek at Outback Adventures. The Grand Opening will officially begin at noon, April 24: and include prize give-aways, rock climbing, refreshments and more.

The grand opening kicks off the Outback Adventures alumni reunion weekend. The Outback Adventures program provides opportunities for challenge, leadership and environmental responsibility to the university community through adventure experiences. For three decades, inspired people who have worked for Outback Adventures have contributed to the UC San Diego community in many ways.

The reunion weekend, April 24-26, will be an opportunity to bring together and recognize these individuals. Alumni from around the country will return to celebrate and reconnect. Events throughout the weekend include an OA5k run, Challenge Course open house, Mission Gorge rock climbing and La Jolla Shores sea kayaking.
