KnuEdge™, delivering LambdaFabric neural computing technology that accelerates machine learning and signal processing, in partnership with the California Institute for Telecommunications and Information Technology (Calit2) at UC San Diego, today released additional details about its first-ever workshop on Heterogeneous Neural Networks (HNNs), to be held April 27-28, 2017 at UC San Diego.

HNNs, as well as sparse matrix algorithms, hold the promise of delivering a step-function increase in performance for machine learning workloads versus the current dense matrix approach. As machine learning evolves, it is crucial to inspire a new generation of technologists to advance the status quo and develop new approaches. At the inaugural workshop, industry leaders will discuss the HNN algorithms at the forefront of this exciting new paradigm of performance and efficiency.

"We are still in the early days, but the goal is clear: to enable fundamental advancements in the way humans interact with machines," said Dan Goldin, CEO of KnuEdge. "We are in the Wild West of machine learning where new approaches and technologies are proliferating, and there is limited information on the best paths. This workshop will focus on educating and inspiring the new generation of technologists to think and act differently toward new computing frameworks. And I cannot wait to see what they can do."
