Free Job Training: 55 Grants Available to Retrain Workers for Biofuels Industry

If algae is to be the solution for America’s pain at the gas pump, trained workers are needed to make that a reality. Applications are now available for continuing education grants at UC San Diego to retrain workers as general science technicians in the rapidly expanding biofuels industry in the San Diego and Imperial County region. Approximately 55 students will begin classes in March 2012, with each student receiving the equivalent of a $7,000 grant from the State of California. Read More »

UC San Diego Women’s Conference set for March 2012

The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) invites UC San Diego staff to attend the 4th Annual UC San Diego Women’s Conference entitled, “(Re)Defining the UC San Diego Woman: Keeping the Momentum,” and to discover strategies to advance careers from successful to extraordinary. The conference will be held in the Price Center West Ballroom on Wed., March 7, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Additional information and registration instructions will be made available at a future date. This conference will feature an empowering keynote speaker, a full roster of exhibitors catering to women, and breakout sessions to give practical, relevant advice and staff development tools. Past conference keynote speakers include Kim E. Barrett, dean of Graduate Studies; Linda Williams, associate chancellor at UC Berkeley; and Mary Hart, former UC San Diego business officer.
