UC San Diego Ranked 8th in Nation for Salary Earning Potential of Undergraduates

Graduates of the University of California, San Diego are ranked 8th for salary earning potential in a 2011-2012 PayScale study measuring top state schools across the nation. The study found that the typical starting salary for UC San Diego graduates with two years of experience is $48,200 and mid-career professionals with a UC San Diego bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience typically make $96,700 annually. Under bright, blue skies, representatives from UC San Diego and San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) gathered recently to celebrate their combined efforts at making things a little greener. Caroline Winn, SDG&E Vice President of Customer Services, presented a ceremonial check to UC San Diego in recognition of the $2.4 million in energy efficiency incentives the university had earned in 2011. Scripps Oceanography Receives nearly $5.5 Million in Recent Gifts

Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego received a string of major private donations in early 2012 that exceeded a total of $5.2 million. Engineering Students Organize Run for Pi(e)

If you’re an engineering student, Pi is a number you quickly become familiar with. You’ve likely seen it in pretty much all of your classes. So, it’s fitting that the undergraduate and graduate student councils at the Jacobs School of Engineering decided it was time to give the number a proper celebration. They are organizing a Pi-Mile Run and Walk, where participants will complete 3.14 miles on March 14. Read More »

The Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) invites UC San Diego faculty and staff to attend the 4th Annual UC San Diego Women’s Conference entitled “(Re)Defining the UC San Diego Woman: Keeping the Momentum” to discover the strategies that will take your career from successful to extraordinary. University faculty and staff are invited to participate in a March 2 web chat with UC President Mark Yudof to discuss a range of issues concerning the UC community. The event, to be held from noon to 1 p.m. on UC's UStream channel, will be hosted and moderated by Penny Herbert and Kevin Smith, staff advisors to the regents. "There are so many challenges facing the university right now that we wanted to host this event to give employees a chance to talk directly with the president," Herbert said. Topics to be covered include state funding for the University of California and the “Working Smarter” initiative.
