Staff Renew Call for Fee Discounts

Staff and Faculty Open Hearts to Needy at Holiday Fair
Hundreds
of toys were piled in one corner of
the Price Center Ballroom. In the hallway,
about a dozen bags full of clothes were
stacked up neatly. At a nearby table,
employees had donated almost $200 for
three needy families.
UCSD
staff members got in the spirit of the
season Wednesday as they enjoyed pancakes
during the university’s annual
breakfast and took part in the concurrent
holiday fair.

Hellman Fellows Program:
Stewarding Young Faculty Toward Tenure Track
In 1995 with a gift of $2.5 million, Chris and Warren Hellman generously funded a novel idea to help young faculty members at UCSD grow and succeed in their careers. Now in its 10 th year, UCSD’s Hellman Fellows Program recently named 13 assistant professors as Hellman Faculty Fellows, awarding a total of $120,000 to support their research and creative activities.
