Traffic Jam On Axon
Highway Occurs Early In Alzheimer's
A
blockage of the movement of chemical
supplies and signals within the tube-shaped,
brain-to-body cellular highways called
axons appears to occur much earlier
than previously thought in the development
of Alzheimer's disease, according to
researchers at the School of Medicine.
The finding could lead to earlier diagnosis
and may also provide insight into the
causes of Alzheimer's, a progressive,
memory-robbing brain disorder affecting
some 4.5 million Americans.

Engineering Undergrads Against High School Teams

Instead, teams cluster around three contest tables, each about the size of a ping-pong table, where remote-controlled robots are competing to grab balls out of thin air. With video crews and reporters on hand to cover it, the scene is straight out of TV’s Battlebots program. More |
