Trailblazing Women Featured to Celebrate Women's History Month

Celebrate
Women's History Month
with WOMEN WHO DARE: Shaping
the Americas, a traveling
exhibit that will end
its three-month journey
in North County in March.
The multi-cultural, visual
walk through explores
the lives of 22 trailblazing
women through their art.
An opening reception with
special guest County Supervisor
Pam Slater-Price, whose
support helped make the
exhibit possible, will
take place at the Cross
Cultural Center March
3rd from 4 - 6 p.m.
Some of the women featured will be Ida B. Wells Barnett, journalist and co-founder of the NAACP; Shirley Chisholm, U.S. Congresswoman; Rosario Ibarra de Piedra, justice activist-leader, Mexican politician; Maria Luisa Bombal, Chilean/Argentinean novelist; Edmonia Lewis, 19th century African-American Native American sculptor; and Alfonsina Storni, an Argentina poet and playwright. The UCSD Women's Center, Cross Cultural Center and Women's History Museum are sponsoring the event.
