beginning today featuring
host James Langley, Vice
Chancellor for External

Impact, the program
will feature Langley discussing
timely issues affecting
the region, state and

The premiere edition will
look at the university's
role in developing charter
schools.
In
this premiere edition,
UCSD Impact will
focus on the San Diego
Board of Education's recent
vote allowing Gompers
Middle School in Southeast
San Diego to convert to

help Gompers apply principles
the university has learned
since founding the charter
Preuss School on the UCSD
campus in 1999. Joining
Langley will be San Diego
School Board President
Luis Acle and Hugh (Bud)
Mehan, the director of
UCSD's CREATE program,
which is charged with
forging partnerships to
improve K-12 education
in the region.
