Learned Optimism: The Key to a Happier Life

Are you seeking improved job performance, more satisfying relationships and a more fulfilling life? Well, aren't we all! Join us for this free employee seminar as we discuss the often-perplexing game of life and how the development of a more optimistic outlook can improve your health, stabilize your mood, and increase your ability to open up to a wider range of possibilities in creating a more rewarding lifestyle. This seminar will be facilitated by John M. Smith, LCSW, and Brent Kahle, MFT, from the UCSD Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.

Presenters:

Brent Kahle

Kahle has been with the UC system for 12 years and has worked in a variety of clinical settings ranging from drug and alcohol abuse treatment to a general practice working with adolescents, children, couples and families. He frequently uses cognitive behavioral methods in assisting his clients change their style and experience in living. He also gives numerous presentations, workshops and seminars on stress management and developing more positive and enjoyable outlooks for healthy living.

John Smith

Smith is a licensed therapist who has worked at the UCSD Faculty and Staff Assistance Program for 14 years. His background includes 27 years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples and families, both in San Diego and New York City. Additionally, John has offered seminars and retreats to workplace, and community groups focusing on workplace excellence through vitality, playfulness and respectful interactions.
