Marianne McDonald Awarded Prizes
in Theater and Classics, Honored with Book
Marianne
McDonald, professor in the Theatre
and Dance Department and in the Classics
Program, was presented on Jan 30 with
the San Diego Critics Circle Craig
Noel Award for Theater Excellence
for most Outstanding New Play, entitled
“…and then he met a woodcutter”.
McDonald was also awarded the American
Philological Association “Outreach
Prize” (2006) last week for
her work popularizing classic literature.
A volume of prose, poetry and plays entitled "Rebel Women" has also been published in honor of McDonald. With contributions from Nobel Prize author Seamus Heaney and many others, the new book commemorates a lifetime of exceptional writing. It will be formally unveiled at a special ceremony in Ireland this spring.
