Three colorful vignettes illustrating projects at The Preuss School UCSD—and a fourth vignette underlining the need for bus transportation support—were demonstrated by students during the fourth annual “Classic Cars for Classic Kids” benefit held recently at The Evans Garage.
The projects included a popular robotic demonstration by the school’s award winning Botball Team; an art gallery of Indian textiles created by art students, and a presentation by athletes of their competitive sports programs. Making up the fourth vignette was a large bus cut-out, into which guests could poke their heads through windows and have a photo taken. The bus and other vignettes were a visual reminder of the evening’s mission: to raise funds for bus transportation and other initiatives critical to student life at The Preuss School.

Adding additional color, musically, were members of the chorale ensemble who gave rousing performances of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “September,” crowd pleasers that brought the guests to their feet.
Nearly $460,000 was raised during the event, attended by some 230 guests who mingled among the classic and antique motor cars which fill the Evans Garage private museum.
