Junior guard Leora Juster racked up 25 points, five
assists and five steals as UCSD dumped host Cal Poly
Pomona, 75-62, Friday night for its 20th win of the
season. Juster, Michelle Osier (17) and Hillary Hansen
(11) accounted for 70% of the Triton points in a game
where UCSD was up by 13 at the break and led by 21
with just over six minutes to go. Although beaten,
41-38, on the boards, UCSD got to the line 35 times
(23 more than CPP), forced 25 turnovers and had 17
steals. It marked the women's first back-to-back 20-win
seasons since 1996-97 & 1997-98.
Saturday night, the Tritons reversed the outcome
of last month's home upset at the hands of Cal State
San Bernardino, surging in the second half for a 68-51
triumph over the host Coyotes. Leading by five at
intermission, UCSD used a 22-6 run in mid-second half
to subdue San Bernardino. Juster, Osier and Hansen
were again the catalysts. Juster netted another 25
points while Osier racked up a double double with
16 points and 13 rebounds and Hansen just missed one
of her own, scoring 10 and grabbing nine boards. Point
guard Kacie Kostlan dished out seven assists. The
Tritons may have won this one at the charity stripe,
draining 20-of-26 (.769) free throw attempts while
the Coyotes were only 4-of-9.
