Ioana Patringenaru | March 5, 2007
The Resource Management and Planning vice chancellor area is currently leading the participation drive for this year’s UCSD United Way/CHAD Campaign, with External Relations in second place. Resources Management’s participation rate is12.77 percent; External Relations’ is fairly close behind, at 9.44 percent. The campaign runs until March 17.
“For this year's Campaign to succeed, each of us must become involved and act as our heart dictates,” Chancellor Marye Anne Fox said in her message announcing the campaign’s kick off.
UCSD employees can make their pledge using the UCSD web-based pledge application on the UCSD United Way/CHAD Campaign website at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/unitedway
The Web site includes instructions and an application package along with a list of UCSD recipient agencies. Employees also can request a participation form from their department coordinator if they prefer to use a paper-based pledge form. Department coordinator's contact information can be found at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/unitedwaycoordinators
When employees take part in this year's Campaign as new donors, continuing donors or just by returning a pledge form, they will be eligible to win one of four iPod Nanos. Carl Mattson from the Shipboard Technical Support unit at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UCSD was the first winner. No campaign contributions or United Way/CHAD funds will be used to obtain the iPods.
The theme of this year’s campaign is "Imagine the Impact of Your Support." Gifts to United Way/CHAD help to support community programs that:
- enhance senior independence
- develop diverse communities
- empower persons with disabilities
- improve health and wellness
- protect the environment
- strengthen families in crisis
- invest in children.
