Gourmet Lunch at the International Café

The International Café will offer a gourmet lunch created by a world-renowned chef for just $4 from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 6 at the International Center.

Michel Stroot, former executive chef at the Golden Door Resort in Escondido, will prepare a special spa lunch, featuring Asian coleslaw with Miso lime dressing, curried ratatouille and pineapple cranberry fruit salad with mint and candied ginger rosehip cranberry ice tea. Quinoa tabouleh, tofu sautéed with scallions, celery and walnuts and chicken drumsticks with Hoisan sauce also will be on the menu.
Stroot’s food is flavorful yet light. He was the first spa chef ever to be nominated for the prestigious James Beard Award. He received the Silver Spoon Award in 2005. He also is the author of "The Golden Door Cooks Light and Easy" and "The Golden Door Cookbook.” The New York Times, Gourmet and Vogue have praised him as a pioneer in the field of healthy cooking.
Stroot also has been guest chef on board Holland America cruises and the Queen Elizabeth 2 and other Cunard ships. He is now retired after more than 50 years in the kitchen.
