Mural to Highlight Diversity at UCSD
Ioana Patringenaru | May 7, 2007
Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to take part in the production of a moveable mural in conjunction with RAZA Awareness Week activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Center quad. The mural will be produced under the guidance of mural artist Armando Cepeda of Arte Ganas Mural Education Workshops.
The UCSD Raza Awareness Committee has designed this mural project as an inclusive, campus-wide activity. They have invited a broad spectrum of student organizations, including the members of the Student Affirmative Action Committee, to submit thematic content that is representative of the multitude of communities represented at UCSD. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to actively participate with in sketching and painting of the mural.
The mural will probably be housed at the Cross Cultural Center. The committee expressed its appreciation for the generous support received from the Chancellor’s Diversity Office.
