UCSD Urges High School Students to Dare to Dream to Go to College
On Nov. 28, UCSD, the California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal SOAP) and the Sweetwater Union High School District partnered to host "Dare to Dream College: Accessing UC San Diego" at Otay Ranch High School in Chula Vista. The event targeted Sweetwater Union High School District sophomores and juniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher and their parents. More than 600 people participated in two events, which included information about finacial aid, admissions and careers. TV Program Features UCSD California Teach Program
UC San Diego’s California Teach program, designed to train mathematics and science teachers to address shortages in California schools, was featured recently on I-TV’s “The Next Math and Science Teachers.” The panel discussion featured: UCSD Physical Sciences Dean Mark Thiemens; Lawrence Yee, UCSD senior in the California Teach program; Chris Reising, Director of the San Diego County Office of Education Teacher Recruitment Center; and Randy Ward, Superintendent of San Diego County Schools. Student Glassblowers Create Ornaments for the Holidays

Independent College Radio is Back in Action

Annual Crafts Sale a Hit on Campus
UCSD students Clare Sullivan, Jia Gu and Taraneh Sarebanha browse through a wide variety of ceramics on sale at the UCSD Crafts Center. The center held its annual holiday sale from Dec. 3 to 6. Offerings included jewelry, glass and ceramics.
