Campus Dances to the Beat of Brazil for One Evening
"Have you tried the fried bananas with ice cream?" said one of the student volunteers handing out treats during The Beat of Brazil Jan. 27. The event was held by Warren College resident advisors, dressed in Brazilian attire for the occasion. Their goal was to bring cultural awareness to the campus community. Samba dancers from Rio de Janeiro started the evening off with a performance at the Canyon Vista dining hall. Capoeira and a live band soon followed. The celebration also featured Brazilian food, face and body painting, as well as mask- and headdress-making.

Fair Brings Shopping Opportunities to Campus
Apparel, posters and wooden roses were some of the many items for sale at the quarterly vendor fair on Library Walk last week. The event allowed students to check out and purchase goods without having to leave campus. In all, 35 vendors and about half a dozen student organizations took part. The event is sponsored by UCSD Center for Student Involvement. Next quarter, the vendor fair will be held April 14 to 18.
