Seven departments and 18 individuals will be recognized Thursday for their contributions to diversity inside and outside the UCSD community during the campus’ 13th annual diversity awards ceremony.
UCSD’s Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action and Diversity Awards Program is designed to recognize the contributions of faculty, staff and students who support UCSD’s commitment to diversity.
“By recognizing UCSD community members for being champions of the UCSD Principles of Community, we’re saying that we value the things that faculty, staff and students do to build community at UCSD,” said Paula Doss, director of Equal Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action. “This year’s recipients are involved with faculty, staff, students, patients, patients’ families and the community beyond UCSD and I think that’s important. Our community is getting larger and more diverse.”
A review committee made up of representatives from each vice chancellor area evaluated nominations for the awards and recommended award recipients for approval from Chancellor Marye Anne Fox.
