Improve Children's Health as Part of Project Nicaragua
Scores of people were waiting in line for care in hospital hallways. Families slept on the floor in patients’ rooms. They hung their laundry out to dry outside the hospital’s door. The sight that greeted UCSD alum Nicholas Gastelum when he first set foot in the El Hospital Antonio Lenin Fonseca in Nicaragua’s capital was not easy to take in, he recalls. Study Links Vitamin D, Type 1 Diabetes
Sun exposure and vitamin D levels may play a strong role in risk of Type 1 diabetes in children, according to new findings by researchers at the Moores Cancer Center and the department of Family and Preventive Medicine.
