National Institutes of Health Doles Out $3 Million
in New Innovator Awards to Two UC San Diego Faculty
Two UCSD faculty members have received New Innovator Awards from the National Institutes of Health, awards intended to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge science and research to improvements in human health. Karen Christman, assistant professor of bioengineering at the Jacobs School of Engineering, and Seth J. Field, an assistant professor of medicine the School of Medicine, will each receive five-year, $1.5 million grants to support their work. More

Pioneering Alzheimer’s Expert Robert Katzman Dies
Dr. Robert Katzman, professor emeritus of neurosciences and founding director of the Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center on campus, died Tuesday at his home in La Jolla after a long illness. He was 82 years old.
