New Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategic Campus Resources Initiatives Named

Brian Gregory, the new assistant vice chancellor for Strategic Campus Resource Initiatives.
Brian Gregory has been appointed assistant vice chancellor for Strategic Campus Resource Initiatives. In this role, Gregory will provide executive leadership for Resource Management and Planning, including fostering collaboration and teamwork for various campus initiatives such as the J. Craig Venter Institute, Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine, La Jolla Playhouse theaters and University House, among others. Gregory will also lead Physical/Environmental Planning and Community Planning, two areas that work closely together.
Gregory has an outstanding ability to integrate his past experiences and education with a refreshing “can do” attitude, Vice Chancellor Gary Matthews said in a statement. Gregory’s willingness to address the challenges that the campus faces and arrive at positive solutions have been a hallmark of his career, Matthews also said.
Gregory joined UCSD in 1999 as the director of Capital Planning and most recently was the director of Resource Planning for Resource Management and Planning. Prior to joining UCSD, he served the Arizona Board of Regents as the assistant executive director for Capital Resources and Auditing Services. He also has worked in Washington D.C. as a statistician at the National Center for Education Statistics and as a research analyst in the department of Institutional Research at Arizona State University.
Gregory earned a bachelor’s in finance, a master’s in secondary education and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Arizona State University and an M.B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Currently, he is seeking a certificate of Healthcare Leadership through UCSD Extension.
