As an ACE Fellow, Barnett Terry will spend the fall quarter at a host institution, followed by mentoring from senior administrators at UC San Diego. An ACE Fellow will focus on an issue of concern to the nominating institution while spending the next academic year working with a college or university president and other senior officers at a host institution.

“I am deeply honored to have been selected as an American Council on Education Fellow,” said Barnett Terry. “This is a tremendous opportunity to spend a year with top leaders in higher education and gain a broader perspective on leadership, particularly at a college-based institution. I hope to be placed at Yale, Harvard, or the University of Pennsylvania as those campuses have some of the oldest college systems in the country,” she said.

Barnett Terry said she will focus primarily on the undergraduate college experience, examining the integration of curricular and co-curricular learning and how the institution works across administrative boundaries for a seamless, coordinated community of learners on campus, particularly for underrepresented and transfer student populations.

Barnett Terry has been at UC San Diego since 1993. “What I love most is working with such extraordinary students and student leaders as well as the exceptional staff team at Revelle College,” she said. “At the completion of my year as a Fellow, I wish to use my knowledge and experiences gained to further enhance and strengthen our unique undergraduate college system at UC San Diego, building upon the foundation laid by Roger Revelle.”
