Lebron James, the NBA’s Most Valuable Player for the 2008-09 season, will bring his summer basketball camp for boys and girls to campus July 24 to 28.
“This is the fourth season of our King’s Academy basketball camp, and moving it to UCSD gives kids on the west coast a chance to participate in this exciting and great experience,” said the basketball star, nicknamed “King James.”
Damon Haley, camp director, said that the youths attending King’s Academy, ages 7 to 17, will have access to the modern, indoor facilities of RIMAC Arena and be instructed in the basic fundamentals of basketball. Campers will be able to take photos with James, receive an autograph and have opportunities to discuss his game and life with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The academy will offer both overnight facilities on the campus and day camper sessions.
