Afghan Women's Writing Opens Window to Shrouded World
A beautiful woman is an Afghan woman with a heart that is big like an ocean, but full of sorrow-rocks. She must be strong. She has no tears
left to shed.
The words flashed on Barbara Field's screen and moved her deeply. She had been working with an Afghan woman named Mahnaz
on an essay about the definition of a beautiful woman and was hoping to get it published soon. Field, who manages communications and metrics
for the Office of the Controller, volunteers as a mentor for the Afghan Women's
Writing Project in her spare time. More

Science Pharmaceuticals of San Diego have demonstrated that oral administration of a cysteine protease inhibitor,
E64d, not only reduces the build-up of ?-amyloid (A?) in the brains of animal models for Alzheimer's disease, but
