About UCSD Tours

Welcome to the UC San Diego Visitors Tour Program
Public Tours Highlight Campus History, Art and Architecture

The UC San Diego Visitors Tour Program offers free tours to area residents, new faculty and staff, first-time visitors to our campus and the general public.  These 90-minute Sunday afternoon tours are led by knowledgeable adult volunteer guides who are eager to show you the most notable features of our beautiful campus.

We offer two types of tours:

  • Walking Tours are offered the first Sunday of each month.  Take a leisurely stroll through the heart of campus to discover its award-winning architecture and one-of-a-kind art pieces while learning more about the university and its history.
  • Bus Tours are offered the second, third, and fifth Sundays of the month. Take a scenic ride for a general overview of the campus with stops at major campus landmarks.

All tours begin at the Gilman Entrance Information Center.

Monthly Architectural Tours

A special architectural tour of campus is currently offered on the fourth Sunday of each month. Visitors will get an insider’s look at the design and history of the university, including 1960’s modernist pieces, new sustainable buildings and signature artworks like “Fallen Star.” These 90 minute bus tours begin at 2 p.m. at the Gilman Entrance Information Center and include stops at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Birch Aquarium and an overview of the main campus. Click here to request a reservation.

Special tours for large groups can be arranged for any day of the week.  For more information, call (858) 534-4414 or email visitorsprogram@ucsd.edu.

Prospective student or student group?  The Visitors Tour is not a student tour.  To find out about student tours, visit the Campus Tours Website or call (858) 822-4750 for more information.
