This
year UCSD celebrates the 40th year since its founding
on a dusty, breathtaking La Jolla mesa overlooking the
sea. The best way to mark this special occasion? The consensus
was - give a gift to the community. Thus was born this
directory of UCSD-sponsored programs available to community
members of all ages and interests.
UCSD's public service is spread from South County to North
County, East County to the shores of the Pacific. Hundreds
of UCSD faculty members, students and staff daily volunteer
in K-12 classrooms, clinics, community centers and neighborhoods.
Their public service ranges from mentoring programs in
which elementary school students explore the arts, reading
and the sciences, to health
In addition, UCSD is giving 40 gifts of service -- most
of which were created just for this anniversary celebration
- as an anniversary gift to the San Diego community, a
special thank you for four decades of support. If you
haven't already, we hope you'll avail yourself of any
programs that suit your interest or need. Truly, we're
here to serve San Diego; that's both our mission and privilege.
