UCSD was recently selected to receive $15 million for 15 renewable energy projects under the federally sponsored Clean Renewable Energy Bonds (CREBs) program. As part of the same program, the entire region of San Diego received $154 million for renewable energy projects. Through their research and fast paced problem solving, four UCSD students were instrumental in securing these grants, says Jan Kleissl, a professor in the Jacobs School of Engineering.
