February 29, 2016 — The United State Department of State has announced that five eminent scientists, including Margaret Leinen, director of Scripps Institution of Oceanography and vice chancellor of marine sciences at the University of California at San Diego, have begun service as U.S. Science Envoys in February 2016. She will focus on ocean science in Latin America, East Asia, and the Pacific.
