Employee with 40 Years of Service Among Staff Members Recognized at Awards Ceremony

Connie Fey, a programmer analyst in Environmental Health & Safety, was recognized Nov. 7 for her 40 years of service to the university. Fey was one of 507 employees recognized. Together, they’ve put in 7,960 years—or more than 16.6 million hours—of service at UC San Diego, Chancellor Marye Anne Fox pointed out.

“All of you have played an integral role in advancing UC San Diego’s mission and, consequently, its standing,” said Chancellor Fox. “UC San Diego is one of the leading research and higher education institutions in the nation. And, in fact, we were once again ranked the No. 1 university in the nation for our commitment to service by Washington Monthly.”

In addition to Fey, 57 employees were recognized for 25 years of service; 23 for 30 years of service, and 10 for 35 years of service.

The Health Sciences Service Awards ceremony is tentatively set for January 11, 2012.
