World’s first algae-based, sustainable surfboard produced by UC San Diego biology and chemistry students

UC San Diego’s efforts to produce innovative and sustainable solutions to the world’s environmental problems have resulted in a partnership with the region’s surfing industry to create the world’s first algae-based, sustainable surfboard. Two UC San Diego Biologists Named 2015 Searle Scholars

Two assistant professors of biology at UC San Diego, Kimberly Cooper and Byungkook Lim, are among 15 scientists named 2015 Searle Scholars. The scientists were selected for their potential for making significant contributions to chemical and biological research over the course of their careers. The two biologists will each receive $300,000 in flexible funding to support their work during the next three years. Read More »




Nominations Being Accepted for Outstanding Senior and Graduate Student Awards

As part of the All Campus Graduation Celebration, Student Affairs will recognize two students who have earned recognition in the UC San Diego community for outstanding academic and leadership, and for enhancing the student experience at UC San Diego. One award will be given to an outstanding graduating undergraduate and one to an outstanding graduating graduate or professional student.
